Zio requested this, and I thought some of the rest of you might find it useful, so I'm posting it here. What is it, you ask? Why "it" is a list of good authors, most of whom can be found at your local library. *hint, hint, nudge, nudge* Feel free to add to the list as you see fit.

Terry Pratchett- My favorite author. He writes mainly for adults, but he does have some young adult books. He writes fantasy, but it is usually satirical in nature, or parodies something, or both. He is most famous for his Discworld series, which takes place on a flat planet populated by all the usual fantasy suspects, and pokes fun at everything, and I do mean everything. His first book in the Discworld series is The Color of Magic.

Okay, so it's only one author at the moment, but it'll take awhile for me to write everything up. Look for future edits. In the meanwhile, the summer reading thread has a lot of good authors.

To these i would add Lirael and Sabriel and the rest of Garth Nix's boooks

and also Memoirs of a Geisha. bc it is a good book! READ IT ZIO!

I am also a big fan of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles books. i just read the fourth book, Tale of the body thief. they are really good and she makes me consider a lot of things just by the way she writes and the topics she covers.
